Load, cock, fire, reload and hear the cartridge hit the ground – the CO₂ version of the Umarex Legends Cowboy Rifle will put you back in the Wild West. And although it shoots steel BBs, its under-lever operation and loading shell ejection make it feel just like a repeater from the old days. The classic design and antique finish, based on legendary Winchester models, add to the overall effect. The Cowboy Rifle is also a winner when it comes to accuracy. It is easy to grip and has convincing design features, including an all-metal break-down receiver. With its combination of advanced CO₂ technology and nostalgic charm, this rifle is sure to offer plenty of fun.

Arthur Morgan –
This is a fantastic gun that is every bit as fun and as you would expect. However, the power and accuracy were greater than I anticipated, despite having seen Youtube reviews that remark on its power and accuracy. You will definitely want eye protection and a good backstop when shooting this: my pellet-firing revolver bounces off tin cans but this gun rips through more than one can and can ricochet all over the place!
I’m as much interested in the Wild West as I am in airguns; in fact, that is the reason I bought this (and the Colt Peacemaker) – otherwise, I probably wouldn’t own any. The fact these replicas are so well-made – not just in appearance but in un/loading mechanisms, size, weight etc. – were a real selling point for me and bestow a feeling of gravitas to the whole experience that could otherwise feel a bit make-pretend. I can certainly recommend this gun (and the Colt SAA) to anyone with more than a passing interest in Americana.
Do be warned in advance, though: the loading of the shells is quite tough once you get past the first few (it can take ten). The authenticity of the Wild West experience then does not begin with the shooting but extends to the calloused cowboy thumbs you will surely get if, like me, yours have never been used for anything more rugged than tapping a space bar! For this reason I removed a star because, by your 60th shot, the fun – and feeling – starts to drain away somewhat.
On a separate note, I have now interacted with many in the team at C&H Weston and have been consistently impressed with the service. Each visit, or email, has been friendly, informative, helpful – even generous – and totally free from sales pressure. For this reason I recommend you buck the trend of buying every single thing online and come in person if you happen to live locally.
